Tungsten carbide is prized for its highly stylish yet equally durable properties. In fact, this material has the strongest tensile strength of any metal on the planet, including gold and platinum. But don’t let this fool you into thinking authentic tungsten rings are overly expensive. On the contrary, they can be purchased at a fraction of the price as gold rings. If you own or are planning to own a tungsten ring, check out our guide below on how to clean them.

Step #1: Take Your Ring Off

First, take off your tungsten ring so you can prepare it for cleaning. These are several different ways to clean a tungsten ring, but the method I’m going to reveal is both easy and effective. Regardless of how much dirt and grime has built up over the years, you give it a fresh new look.

Step #2: Fill Up a Bowl with Diluted Vinegar

Want to know the secret to cleaning a tungsten ring? While some people may use basic water and soap, a more effective technique is to use diluted vinegar. The highly acidic properties of vinegar make it incredibly effective at cleaning metals like tungsten. Just fill a small-to-medium sized bowl up with half water and half white vinegar. Stir the solution around to ensure its properly mixed before proceeding to the next step.

Step #3: Soaking Your Ring

The third step is to soak your tungsten ring in the solution of diluted vinegar. Simply drop it into the bowl and let it sit for 30-45 minutes. Make sure the ring is completely covered in the diluted vinegar, otherwise, parts of your ring will remain dirty.

Step #4: Drying

Once half an hour has passed, remove your tungsten ring from the diluted vinegar and leave it out to dry. Drying should only take about 10 minutes or so, and once it’s dry you can then wear it.

Sorry if you were expecting more, but that’s all it takes to clean a tungsten ring! The vinegar should not only remove any dirt and grime on your ring, but it will also leave it sparkling clean.

The truth is that most jewelry cleaning solution products sold in the stores contain a high amount of vinegar. Instead of spending $10 or even $20 on one of these cleaning solutions, you can pick up a bottle of vinegar from the grocery store. Just follow the steps outlined here and you’ll be well on your way to having a newly cleaned tungsten ring. Of course, this technique can be used for practically any type of jewelry, regardless of what metal it’s made of.
