The BEST and WORST Songs to Play at Your Wedding

Posted by

Once the venue is chosen, the DJ is decided, and you are chugging along to the best night of your life full steam ahead, don't let the songs that you'll be dancing to hold you back from being productive. Songs, though important, are underestimated and are fundamental to your reception; the father-daughter dance, the mother-son dance, the anniversary dance, the cake cutting song, the entry song, the exit song....SO MANY SONGS. Since all of those categories have special meanings to you, I'm not going to tell you which songs to choose from to select the signature dances of your special night. Instead, I've compiled a list of the best songs (and a few of the worst) to play at your wedding for all ages, mostly ridden of swear words and suggestive content. All of these are guaranteed to please your guests!

  1.  The Way You Look Tonight- Frank Sinatra
  2.  Kiss Me- Sixpence None The Richer
  3.  Shout- The Isley Brothers
  4. Feel This Moment- Pitbull ft. Christina Aguilera
  5.  Take On Me- a-ha
  6.  Still Into You- Paramore
  7.  This Will Be- Natalie Cole
  8.  Marry Me- Train
  9.  At Last- Etta James
  10.  Clarity- Zedd ft. Foxes
  11.  Yellow- Coldplay
  12.  Time Of Our Lives- Pitbull
  13.  Forever- Chris Brown
  14. Marry You- Bruno Mars
  15.  Kiss- Prince
  16.  Ain't No Mountain High Enough- Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell
  17.  Good Life- OneRepublic
  18.  Addicted to You- Shakira
  19. Home- Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros
  20.  Say Hey (I Love You)- Michael Franti and Spearhead

  21. THE WORST

  22.  Every Breath You Take- The Police

THIS SONG IS ABOUT A STALKER. Unless you have a creepy story about how you ended up falling in love with the person who followed your every move, I highly recommend burning this song off your playlist and in the trashcan.
  23.  Daughters- John Mayer

John Mayer is the opposite of a boy you want your daughter to marry. When's the last time you heard something good about a relationship John Mayer was in? That's what I thought. This song has not the slightest hintering of sense to their lyrics, but man is it catchy. Still, I don't recommend playing it at your wedding.
  24.  I Will Always Love You- Whitney Houston

This is a song about her dead lover. Last time I checked, there are no caskets involved in a wedding reception. If there was, you'll definitely be on the nightly news. I'll keep a lookout for you.
  25.  I Will Survive- Gloria Gaynor

This is about a breakup so terrible, that she has to talk herself into not being physically sick and afraid of how she would live without this boy. Though super popular at weddings and screaming at the top of your lungs, I recommend not playing this at your wedding.
  26. My Heart Will Go On- Celine Dion

THERE IS A REASON THIS WAS USED IN "TITANIC". ITS A SONG ABOUT GETTING OVER A DEAD LOVED ONE. DON'T PLAY IT.
