5 Healthy Ways of Eating for the Bride

Posted by

A Message to the Bride:

While wedding planning is very stressful on you, you need to be careful about what you eat. Many times when under stress, our first reaction as humans is to go for the chocolate or some kind of sweet treat to fill the void, especially something that is pleasurable and helps us to relax.

But what you as a bride need to remember, is that until your wedding day is over, you may have to worry about the horrible thought that your wedding dress may not fit if you continue not monitoring what you eat. If you want to ensure that this will not happen to you, you need to be cautious of what you eat. There are a few foods that you should definitely ignore along the way to help keep you a healthy and happy bride.

1. Ignore the salt!

While this may be harder for some, salty foods lead your body to retain more water, which can then pave the way for weight gain. Anything like potato chips, deli lunch meat, cheese, or even certain kinds of sandwiches can contain a very high amount of sodium. Do yourself a favor and try to ignore as much salt as possible!

2. No more sugary drinks.

Although soda, lattes, juices, and other drinks containing high amounts of sugar, hit the spot, they tend to do more damage than good. Soda is a carbonated drink and therefore results in a bloated and gassy feeling. Lattes and other types of iced coffees have high amounts of cream and sugar added. Most juices are more sugar than real fruit juice, tricking us to believe that we are drinking something that is benefiting our bodies. Drinking this does not mean that you have to drink water for the rest of your life, although water is important for healthy looking skin. There are smoothies and juices that are prepared organically or naturally, such as the juice Naked. While grocery shopping, look for juices that are sugar free and flavored water that doesn’t contain high amounts of sugar.

3. Dairy is a “no-no”.

Many foods that are consumed include dairy in one way or another: varying from milk and cheese to yogurts or cream. While dairy does have a good dosage of calcium, it has high fat content. You can eliminate dairy and still get a healthy amount of calcium through other foods such as oranges, dark leafy greens, and almonds. So while dairy will cut out a lot of what you eat on an everyday basis, it is necessary to maintain a healthy, fit shape before the big day.

4. Keep gluten to a minimum.

Gluten is a substance that is in most wheat products and most foods containing bread. Foods such as crackers, bread, pasta, baked goods, most types of flour, and cereals. It is very hard to cut gluten completely of your diet unless you decide to follow a gluten free diet. But you can control your portions so you are not eating an abundance of gluten items by limiting how much you eat in a sitting. Every person is different, so figure out what you would like to cut out and how much.

5. Avoid eating out.

Yes, it is possible to eat healthy when going out to a restaurant. But the temptation is much bigger to buy a burger or a pizza when looking at so many options on a menu. Foods like burgers with all the works, french fries, sandwiches, Chinese food, pizza, cakes, ice cream, etc. are not good for you at all, in any way, shape, or form. It’s easier to ignore these types of food when you cook for yourself. Ignore and limit eating out because believe it or not, you will not regret it when you fit perfectly in your wedding dress.

The pressures are incredibly high for a bride to look stunning on her wedding day. Although you will look beautiful no matter how the dress looks or fits on you, these steps can work you towards your goal. This list also provides a way to eat healthy for lifetime, not just for a dress.
